Lakeshore Anesthesia, P.C. was incorporated in September 2005 by founding physicians Derek T. Cheuk, M.D. and Gregory S. Nowak, M.D.
Dr. Derek Cheuk continues his administrative role as owner and CEO. Kunal Bhatt, M.D. joined Lakeshore Anesthesia in August 2011. In January 2016, Dr. Kunal Bhatt became the active President and co-owner of the group. Dr. Gregory Nowak stepped down from administrative roles to focus on family and travel; however, he remains a integral part of our team.
Dr. Bhatt earned both a Bachelors Degree in Psychology and his Medical Degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Dr. Bhatt served as Chief Resident during his residency at the University of Illinois Chicago area hospitals. He began his work with Lakeshore Anesthesia, P.C. in August of 2011 as an anesthesiologist in each of our facilities. Dr. Bhatt became President and co-owner of Lakeshore Anesthesia, P.C. in January 2016. He continues to practice both medical and administrative work. Dr. Bhatt serves as a member of the Medical Executive Committee and Credentialing Committee at St. Mary Medical Center.

Kunal Bhatt, M.D.
Co-owner and President
Dr. Cheuk earned his Medical Degree from Michigan State University in 1994 after earning a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Michigan. After completing his anesthesia residency with the University of Chicago hospitals, Dr. Cheuk worked as a partner in several anesthesia groups before forming Lakeshore Anesthesia, P.C. in 2005. Dr. Cheuk currently balances both medical and administrative duties. He serves as Vice Chairman of the Department of Anesthesia. Dr. Cheuk also serves as a member of Medical Executive Committee and Credentialing Committee at St. Mary Medical Center.
